Shows That I Watch: Kyle XY Season 2 “Finale”
OK. We’ve been told that the second season of Kyle XY will be “a bit longer” than its first season. Well, the “Kyle” team did, and they added three more episodes! (Sarcasm starts here) Imagine that! We get to have 13 straight episodes and to top it all, we get extra three from season 1’s 10! Isn’t that amazing? (Sarcasm ends)
Anyway, as far as I know, and using the strategy that made “Kyle” popular, the next season would be airing next year (duh!) around May or June, just enough time to dodge safely from big-hit shows like Grey’s Anatomy, House, Lost, and Heroes.
Why am I not that much excited?
Well, for starters, “Leap of Faith” is so much lighter than season 1’s finale, “Endgame”. I can’t believe they still pushed for Nicole’s “emotional” bit, and it kinda felt awkward and cheesy. I was expecting for the season to end with Nicole and Steven arguing about “the pathetic third party”, Nicole getting so emotional about discovering how Kyle messed up their home, and maybe Josh crying out loud for the pain that Andy has to go through, maybe a “deathbed-scene” of some sort. I can’t believe they made this one a treasure hunt, which lost season 1’s emotional touch and character-drivenness.
And what was that b***sh*t about Jessie betraying Kyle? What was that all about? And Adam Baylin still alive? Well, at least they left something off for fans to watch out for season 3, but nonetheless, a total disappointment for me.
And why the quotes in the title?
Well, searching google for Kyle XY Season 3’s start date is very difficult, but somehow I managed to go to this site: The Kyle XY Rumor for Season 2 Continuation
And then I said… WTF!?!?! More “Kyle” to come? And I said, I knew it! This episode is not worthy of a “Kyle Finale”! And then, searching the ever-reliable Wikipedia told me that actor Jean-Luc Bilodeau who plays the tear-jerky, “Kyle-brotherly”, Trager son, Josh that they will finish filming on October, and will go on hiatus (I searched google and it means a season “gap”) until early 2008, which in this link says around April of next year. That confirms the poster’s “rumor” that season 2 has not ended yet, but it won’t be shown on January.
And why am I excited and at the same time worried about this? This just means that we’re getting more of the “Kyle” stories and more of Amanda! Pretty cool huh? What bothers me is, since this is a cable channel original series, doing it in one full season (22-24 episodes) could mean the end of the series itself. I dunno if I make sense here, but I have a hunch that “Kyle” is under the process of being axed or something. Well, if this happens, we could just hope for the best, and maybe ABC could think of a spinoff from “Kyle”, maybe “The Tragers” or something. They are not that boring, IMO.
On the other hand, if ABC Family decides to keep the reels rolling for “Kyle” (for this is their most popular show AFAIK), then good for them (and us). I just have to say that the crew should watch out for their script because it somehow evolved into something less than what they started, just like “Lost”.
