The Stupidest Websites in the Philippines
It’s kinda sad that the websites here in the Philippines with the highest traffic are entertainment “blogs”, like Starmometer and PEP.ph. What happened to news sites like inquirer.net? Is the Filipino webizen becoming more and more into stupid stuff?
OK, call me discriminating, but engaging yourself on “crafted” reality made by our media is, in my opinion, the “stupidest” thing I’ve ever heard! In this country, credibility of showbiz reporters is based on how much libel cases they have under their belt. High ratings for news and current affairs is based on how controversial a celebrity is (or at this prime moment of the network wars, on how dirty the ratings game is played).
Take for example the two sites I just gave you. If you understand Tagalog and read the comments below, they sound worse than YouTube cyberbullies. They talk like activists and religious leaders, but if you remind yourself you’re reading an entertainment blog, you’ll find it very stupid, so stupid I want to smack my knuckles on each of their faces! (And I mean it!)
C’mon people! Be smarter! One channel whines about unfair ratings, the other about game show scams. Can’t you see you’re being manipulated by these networks to build some sort of instant fans club? You’re not being thanked for their ratings, they are thanking you for nothing. They’re even so ungrateful they give you crap news and absurd fantasy plots, and even waste your time debating about these crappy networks. Not to mention they always put you in the illusion that you might be your rich neighbor’s missing daughter / son. It’s only here in the Philippines where you have fans clubs for networks, e.g. the Kapusos, and the Kapamilyas. Can’t you guys just frickin’ watch the tube and stop wasting Philippine bandwidth for rubbish?!?
If I were you, I’d just go to greenpinoy.com. It may be a joke site, but people there are a lot smarter (light years smarter, actually) than your average entertainment blog troll.

Human Tetris
Ever since YouTube has been invented, people added videos we’ve never seen before, ever, for free. Dailymotion is one of those no-strings-attached video sites, and just now, I found this awesome video.

I really want to have a live game with these guys in front of me. I just dunno if they could really do realtime blinking when it happens.

Robot Does the Violin
The first thing that came in mind was, “Why can’t I be just like that gears guy?!? I can’t even play the frickin’ maracas!” I guess Asimo still more superior than this mecha.
Greenpinoy.com Sets the Bar Higher
I’ve been a fan of the Greenpinoy site. I always contribute comments and counter-jokes whenever I feel like contributing. I even dreamt of having my own site just like GP’s, but tonight, I saw something that I can never do. Greenpinoy.com has set the bar higher by imitating one of the most-loved cartoon character.

YouTube debut of Whiney the Pot! (Hehe, just giving my own name for the GP’s imitation)
One of the comments people thanked GP for having this as a Christmas gift. I saw it as a Halloween costume. Freaky!
Hehe, of course, it’s always nice to have a new site to take off the stress my work is giving me. Kudos, and keep it up!

Shows That I Watch: Stump the Chef
Last time, I did an article about the agony I went through gastritis, and worse, not eating the best food my small salary could give me, and I told stories about me having to always dig through a bowl of plain unflavored oats. For the past few days, all I can do is just feast my eyes with all the podcasts I could get that shows anything about food and recipes.
I somehow managed to subscribe to one, and it actually went past your simple cooking podcast. It’s called “Stump the Chef”, and it brings a whole new meaning to the idea of playing with food!
Yummy or Yucky?
The good thing I really love about Stump the Chef is its consistent format, and all the things in between time zero and the last second. The first part is an introduction of the three ingredients Chef Matt has to mix up. At first glance, all the ingredients seem really weird. The second part shows Chef Matt having a monologue of what possible things he could do. Then the podcast proceeds to preparations and cooking proper.
Being the info savvy that I am, the entire episode is flambeed with tasty trivia about one of the dish’s ingredients, through a segment called “Matt’s tangent”. I have to tell you guys, I really appreciate food more with these trivia.
During parts where you see the “normal cooking show”, you hear comments from two crazy guys. You have to hear them yourself. They’re so hilarious their dialogues are just as addicting as the entire concept itself! If you have slow internet, you can read the transcript of each episode.
On the last part, Chef Matt’s dish will be judged by three food experts, and their verdict will dictate the Chef’s fate.
Apart from the hilarious and slapsticky format, creativity, resourcefulness, and artistry just seems to dominate the entire show. With Chef Matt leading the show, I say he deserves more than a podcast. He should have his own show with this same format.
My own verdict: not only does it pass my taste, the podcast is deliciously addictive!
