Shows That I Watch: My Girl – Philippine Version
I haven’t been watching any TV lately, but I’ve heard enough (and TOO MUCH) about the Philippine version of the Korean drama “My Girl”. I watched the pilot episode and, yeah, you know what I’m gonna tell, right?
Maybe, wrong! Haha! I’m totally addicted to it! I mean I can’t imagine getting hooked to someone like Kim Chiu. I thought before she was a squeaky mouse for an actress who just happened to win the Big Brother stint here in the Philippines. I guess her handlers finally found the right role for her!
I really love the way she acts. Reminds me of Rufa Mae Quinto minus the steroids down her bre… nevermind.
I also like the way the episodes were written. It’s so fast-paced there’s too much to process at least on its first week. Just look at this snippet. It’s 10 minutes, and so much has already happened!
I really like the Asianovela feel of the cinematography. So far, I saw the finest Philippine drama cinematogrpahy through here. Really liked the “mango incident” and in the video above, the part where Jasmine imagines herself being poured over with money coming from “Mr. President”, and the labor of recreating the “Jasmine Story” written by “Mr. President”. In fairness to Gerard Anderson (whom I’ve just heard just this month), even at a young age, he’s pretty convincing for his role. I’ve heard about his “Xiamen proposal” in one of his episodes, and, boy, he’s such an articulate young guy he is.
I really thought that this move by Channel 2 would be a flop, knowing that Mari Mar has succeeded so much it sucks when I see an episode having Marian Rivera deliver “Magbabayad sila sa mga kasalanan nila” (and other derivatives, literally means “They will pay for all the wrongdoings they’ve done to me” ) three times within 10 minutes! I like fast-paced. I don’t usually like kilig, but oh boy, I can’t get enough of Kim Chiu! Kudos for the HUGE improvement over “Sana Maulit Muli” (I was puking while I was watching an episode).
At least there’s something to serve as substitute in this dry season of US TV serials.
