Top-bill-a in Manila
I promised this year I have to watch those big star concerts that will happen here in the Philippines. After the Craig David, Alicia Keys, and John Legend concerts have passed, I still haven’t watched any of those big concerts (sorry, not much of an E-heads fan).
On my bro’s birthday, May 16th, 2009, Archie (David Archuleta) and Cookie (David Cook) (?, sounded like a comedy duo…), of American Idol Season 7 fame, will be having their concert in MOA parking grounds, and I’m pretty sure it’ll be packed. So in case you still dunno, I guess you have to reserve concert tickets ASAP. It’ll be more frustrating if you knew the concert’s a sold out one.
Kudos to Fearless Productions (Jom Yllana-helmed concert company) for bringing in the two American Idol rivals (cool timing ‘coz they’re both cheaper than, maybe, on future engagements, not to mention they are still popular).
I just wish Stevie Wonder goes to the Philippines and have a real-molten-lava-hot concert here.

Tap Tap With a Vengeance
From the most addicting (albeit, frustrating) game in the entire iPhone / iPod Touch world, Tap Tap Revenge is back with its new version. Bearing the version number 2, it sports a completely new game engine which means faster graphics, crazier colors, and more intense gaming (as if the uber-difficult level wasn’t intense enough). There’s also a new gesture called tap-hold where you hold the area where a “swooshing” graphic comes in (like a ball of ghost, or ghost of ball, whatever fits), and multi-tap (Yey! Finally!) which will force you to put the phone on a stable place and use your two hands.
Tap Tap Revenge 2 is available through the Apple iTunes AppStore.
Flash Me 1.1
I remember 2 days ago, I was looking for a place to stay perhaps on the third week of February, I’ll be moving in somewhere else (the head-aching door-banging going on in that place drives me nuts, and leaves me with 1 hour of cool sleep hours). I saw this place in Abada, and I met this old lady. From the looks of it, she seemed discriminating and headmistress-ish (my hair strands were heading in different directions, thus the treamtment, I guess), but when I started talking about getting a place, she became more hospitable and more accommodating.
Especially when I asked her number and I took Kirei out. Of course I caught her taking a glimpse of the beauty, she did even mention about “her”. Anyway, she then asked me what’s my name and what my phone number is. I almost… almost… forgot I have something in my iPhone that could help her know my name, email and phone number, and good thing I didn’t forget. I had “Flash Me“, and since the perks of being the developer of the program is having the latest version in my iPhone before any users get a taste of the app, I immediately flashed (unceremoniously though) my (weird enough but I learned to love it) name and phone number in front of her and she picked it up quickly. She had a quick question if “that phone” has that, and I said, nope, I did the program myself…
And then I realized I started being an airhead…
Anyway, the new “Flash Me 1.1″ sports some cool new features like choosing email addresses from the multitude that the contact has, also phone numbers, a combo box to support the feature, and I finally removed that annoying bug I had with “John Doe” involved in it.
I personally want to thank one of our users (he refused to be acknowledged with the bug) for helping us out track this bug. If you’re reading this post, my most sincerest (that’s redundant) gratitude to you. Did I tell you I love being in a product-based, startup-style company because the customer-relations here is so rewarding, and the responsibilities are more challenging? (If not, then just read the past sentence, this time not in question form)
Oh, did I tell you that Flash Me 1.1 will be available in a few hours from the App Store? As of press time, it hasn’t push through yet, but I’m pretty sure the wait won’t be too long.
New screenies follow:

The Sweet “Blænd” : iPhone 2.2.1 Firmware Update
Prologue: I recently got Kirei back. Remember Kirei? Of course, she sports a new black look now. *wink*
Details from The Unofficial Apple Weblog (or TUAW for short) says that it’s just (1) Safari stability, (2) saved images from emails, (3) and Apple Lossless Playback skippers fixes. Kirei’s Wifi doesn’t work now, and was really hoping the firmware upgrade would solve that.
Hopefully Kirei would be better soon.
Triple Torpedo
Time to go cheap (and hot at site traffic at the same time).
Recently, Karylle was guested in the showbiz-oriented talk show “The Buzz”, and was allowed to answer the “Tough Ten” questions, which is a regular segment in the show. Karylle was asked if she knew whether Marian Rivera, Karylle’s ex-boyfriend Dingdong Dantes’s screen partner, was really pregnant with her screen partner. Karylle was noticeable straight and eloquent on the first nine questions, but the last one, she stared meaningfully at the host, Boy Abunda, and didn’t say anything.
Circulating around entertainment sites are raging comments and bashings on both parties. Such cheap arguments!
Just a pre-emption. Guys, I’m agnostic to both stations, and I don’t and won’t argue for or against a TV station. That’s just cheap.
Karylle’s smile looked more like “Why are you asking me this Kuya Boy?” It’s not a yes or a no, but her being a refined lady, if she says yes, that means she’s defying what she is taught, and if she says no, then it’s a straight out lie that Marian wasn’t involved in the breakup. The best answer is a confusing stare, distancing herself from the issue without the temptation to lie for Dingdong and Marian.
Now, what could be the *true* thing going on here? I guess Marian’s “conception” would’ve been kept and “taken care of” without Karylle going out of the station. Why did Karylle let go of GMA? I guess she was requesting GMA 7 to stop the pairings / projects (indeed, Dingdong-Marian tandem is tiring already), and all parties (DD, Marian, GMA, and K) know that Dingdong and Marian are really falling for each other. On GMA’s part, the tandem is a cashcow, and at the same time, why would you separate two lovebirds?
Karylle felt cheated, and even though the rules of love say that “feelings matter, time just adorns them” (paraphrased), she felt the station never gave her the chance to shine both in lovelife and career-wise, thus the transfer.
Mistakes might have been done, and there’s no way to mend it, not even throwing stones at her would help. If only we were neither a kapuso nor a kapamilya, but simple caring “kapitbahays”…
Now, whatever the decisions for the alleged “pregnancy”, it’s up to Marian to decide on it. It’s a matter of choosing between her career and a child (if it is true), or whether to stop making the people puzzled about their situations. I think they owe the public a lot, and they won’t get there without their fans. What we need is clarification, not a mace to hit on each of their heads.
Survivor Philippines Rocks!
Who doesn’t love to hate a good villain in a show?
I’ve been a viewer of Survivor Philippines right from the start. It may have the technical and hosting quirks (Paolo Bediones sounds like a goat hit right on the arse), but all in all, the reason why I like the Survivor franchise is because I love seeing people do politics at its most primal form (sans the violence and the sex, of course).
I was soooo thankful Kiko got out of the damn show. He’s the only reason I always roll my eyes in each episode. A self-proclaimed principled man (and I’m not saying he’s not, or vice-versa), Kiko always takes all the sh*t out of me because of all his “philospohical passages” and banishing the thoughts of thinking about the money.
!@&*#^!! How the show sucked when he was there! At long last, someone who really knows how the game works stood up and gave a show of his craft: betrayal and antagonistic instinct. For those who say that Marlon is such an evil character, he is evil… at least in Survivor.
You can’t cast the stone to him because he’s just playing the game the way it should be played, in my opinion. After the game, everything falls back to place, and all Filipinos should know that, like any basketball game, this is just for the money, and whoever punches his opponents or whichever fan who throws 1-peso coins to the enemy “faction”, they’d sure look stupid. A game is being played here people, and whatever “face” they’re showing in the show, it’s just a mask, a step to insure that coveted money.
The only thing I didn’t like was when Marlon allegedly disrespected Mommy Zita. Let’s just see and watch what happens.
(And for those who still believe I’m a Kapamilya, whetever that means, now it’s proven wrong. I just watch the good shows, that’s all.)
Overworked
Yeah, you saw it right. Though like Pia Guanio said before, as I paraphrase it, being overworked is a sign that your company trusts you when it comes to responsibilities (unless it’s some sweatchop in Saigon or China). I personally haven’t proven myself yet to my bosses when it comes to technical stuff, but I’m really thankful for them to trust someone like me.
Really looking forward to working for relevant stuff (based on my new career path). Also looking forward to contributing to my working company’s edge.
Ronaldo Valdez and his Most Versatile Role Ever!
I’m so glad that Ronaldo Valdez’ character, Lolo Greg Abueva, has come out as the pseudo-villain for the series “My Girl”. Pseudo-villain because in the past episodes, he was presented as a fun-loving, jolly, and affectionate grandfather. It’s nice to see him in a new light. For those who still don’t know, Ronaldo Valdez had a career as prime antagonist in some action films. I really really appreciate the new twist in the plot, and am so glad they chose him for the role.
I just hope he gets as much character roles like this sooner. He’s really good in this recent scene of his:
He really scared the hell out of me (Which means “Bravo!” in my vocabulary)! I guess he’ll do a better villain than that of Anika’s role.
I can also see an angle here where Aunt Belle might also turn into a villainess, and soap opera followers would know that Bing Loyzaga (the actress playing Aunt Belle) has also done her share of villain roles in the past. It might be possible if and when Lolo Greg’s character dies in the story. Things are getting more interesting in “My Girl”!
